Shanghay Chair

Designed by KiBiSi / Produced by HAY / Coloured by Wood Wood.

Originally designed for the Danish Pavilion for the Shanghai World Expo 2010 by KiBiSi, the Shanghay chair is conceived as a single segment of the social bench that orbits the pavilion. The chair is composed of 4 small boards of moulded plywood folded around each other to form the simplest chair imaginable merging legs and seat, back and structure into the 4 constituent parts.

This edition of 250 pieces is made in collaboration with the Danish clothing brand Wood Wood and consists of six different colours carefully balanced to work together in new combinations. As the chairs are easy to disassemble and reassemble, people will be capable of creating their own hybrid designs by recombining their colours of choice.
